Forbidden Love Whatever it Takes Book 2 edition by DJ Heart Literature Fiction eBooks

Neither man went into this relationship with the idea that it would become their final choice. Carter was a werewolf with a secret. One that would break his connection from his pack. He desired human love, lust and companionship. His alpha was a dark arrogant force but he knew if push came to shove, he would destroy Carter's image with the pack. Torn, Carter wanted to find a way to diminish his desire to humans through witchcraft. Then John entered his life.
John was a gay male and cop by profession. With the urging of a friend, he was to join him at a local private club. After his friend backed out, he went alone. It was the first time he met and slept with Carter. Both fought the connection, but it was meant to be. John experienced the bigotry first hand from his friend Luke another wolf. Causing such a turmoil that it almost ended their friendship.
It wasn't going to be easy but even through the ugliness their bond would embrace them strengthening what they already had.

Forbidden Love Whatever it Takes Book 2 edition by DJ Heart Literature Fiction eBooks Reviews

I received an ARC copy of this book. As always DJ has provided us with a book that keeps you turning the pages. Carter and John's relationship blossomed from a chance meeting after John was stood-up by his best friend. I still wonder why Carter did not realize that they were mates with the physical reactions his body was having whenever he thought about leaving John. It was a joy to see that Alpha Grayson was finally taken care of and by his own son Elijah, who he continuously put down. I though the characters were well thought out and the course of the book rolled smoothly as the transitions from one character to another was presented. It was a joy reading this book and look forward to the next book maybe the story of Elijah. I also would like to see more of Owen's Grandmother, she is a pivotal background character who could do with more page time.
I always know that whenever I start a DJ Heart book, it will be hot, kinky, and a fantastic narrative. I love how tight the plotting and the pacing of his books are.

This book was no exception. It was fun watching John discover his kinky, submissive side with Carter. I also loved the struggle that Carter fought between wanting to be a "normal" werewolf who could be accepted by the pack even though he loves a human, and needing to be true to himself. I loved that John called Luke out on the inherent bigotry of modern werewolf society, rather than just accepting it as "the way werewolves are".

I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book.
This is DJ Hart at his finest, weaving a tightly knit and quickly paced story with deliciously dirty sex. The chemistry between Carter and John is intense and makes for a compelling read as they struggle to balance the undeniable attraction between them with what they believe they can have from each other. With the bigotry at a werewolf’s attraction to a human being at dangerous levels, it was distressing to me that Carter was willing to go to extreme lengths to force himself to feel something more socially acceptable, but it was impossible for me not to empathize with his frustration at having to choose between his pack and his interest in humans. And when he can finally be honest about himself with what he wants? So liberating.
We also get a chance to get to know Alpha Greyson’s son Elijah a little better in this book, and I am really anxious for more of his story as the series progresses. If you haven’t read the first book in the series, this can absolutely stand alone, but I did enjoy getting a chance to catch up with Owen & Luke from Whatever It Takes. Please note that I voluntarily reviewed an advance copy of this book.
This book has quite a plot even if it is mostly very hawt body worshipping type sex (like all of DJ Heart books) but for the love of reading, it needs an editor. The author should be embarrassed to put out a book with so many errors. I'd be a lot harsher about it if it wasn't a KU book. Nobody should ever pay for this kind of amateur editing. DJ messes up so many names that just one person, pre reading it for real before it was submitted, should have caught and fixed them they are so blatant. Even the name of Club Thorn is called Club Thunder at one point. Owen, Luke, John and Carter are all mixed up and interchanged and the names used even when the character isn't in the scene. Very frustrating so be prepared.
Somehow the magic (literally and metaphorically) was lost between installments. A decent book none the less, but I struggled to keep interested.
Another steaming hot orn/romance by DJ Heart! The sex descriptions were amazing... I never thought I would enjoy reading about bdsm but it was pure breath-taking. The plot was a bit shallow but still held my attention enough (between the sex scenes). Editors need to pay more attention with making sure the right characters are in the scene but it only caused a couple moments of confusion.
The Whatever it Takes series are actually my favorite of DJ Heart's by far. I feel like this book and the first in the series are huge improvements over his other series. His other works weren't bad by any means, but a bit more on the smut side and the characters bordered on just being archetypes of alphas or omegas.

I think this particular book had more dynamic and layered characters with fears and insecurities, yet they were also able to grow and learn to effectively communicate so there weren't as many misunderstandings. There were some, but they got through them like adults. The sex scenes were scorching and I hope that he publishes a third book on Elijah.

If you've been wanting to try out one of DJ Heart's books, definitely get this one.
